WGA submits bipartisan policy recommendations for developing the critical minerals supply chain

In correspondence with the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, WGA submitted bipartisan policy recommendations on behalf of Western Governors relating to the Subcommittee’s March 25 hearing, Unleashing America’s Mineral Potential: The Critical Mineral Commodity Supply Chain. “Western Governors call for a national minerals policy that bolsters exploration and resource assessment, addresses federal permitting challenges, strengthens domestic supply chains, and evaluates the potential water, environmental, and social impacts of mining operations on affected communities,” reads the March 30 letter, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf. “States possess extensive regulatory and technical expertise managing and developing these resources and stand as ready partners to develop and implement a National Minerals Policy that truly enables mineral exploration and development to ensure access to the minerals that are critical to U.S. economic and national security.” Read the correspondence in full for further details
