In correspondence with the Senate Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Fisheries, Water, and Wildlife, WGA submitted bipartisan policy recommendations in light of the Subcommittee’s March 18 hearing, titled, Challenges and Opportunities with Implementing the Endangered Species Act. The March 30 letter, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, called for cooperative relationships between all entities involved in the management of species and their habitats. “Where voluntary, incentive-based conservation activities have been effective, they have precluded the need to list species under the Endangered Species Act,” reads the letter. “Western Governors have a vested interest in utilizing these tools to effectively manage wildlife and habitat for a balance of uses.” Read the correspondence in full for further details.
